A member of our extended Kable Team family, Dave Boober, is a WV State Trooper and has recently been given additional authority by federal law enforcement to help keep children safe from internet predators. Missi is proud of him, and so is the rest of the Team! Read the story here:

The West Virginia Real Estate Commission requires seven hours per year of continuing education for real estate agents. The Kable Team gladly fulfilled this obligation on Tuesday by attending an all-day class held in Martinsburg. In the morning session, the class explored the many issues of Fair Housing. Risk Management was the topic for the afternoon. It's always nice to share ideas with fellow Realtors and be instructed by experts in the subject matter. The better educated we are, the more successfully we can serve our clients.

Frequently we're asked about the largest industries in Jefferson and Berkeley Counties. Increasingly, that answer has to include higher education. With Shepherd University and the headquarters of American Public University Systems in Jefferson County already putting us on the education radar, we have to also include the great programs offered by Blue Ridge Community and Technical College. Though currently located at 400 W. Stephen St. in Martinsburg, a brand new campus is in the works. Scheduled to open in 2012 for the fall semester, the complex will be located near The Commons, just west of Exit 12 off I-81. Visit the School's website at www.blueridgectc.edu.

It's difficult to rejoice in the improved real estate market in Jefferson County when our hearts are so heavy for the people of Japan. Please help if you can, but be sure your donations are made to a legitimate agency.

Frank Buckles, who resides near Charles Town, celebrates his 110th birthday today. Mr. Buckles is the last surviving American veteran of World War I. We consider him a Jefferson County treasure, but we suppose calling him a national treasure would be more like it. Happy Birthday, Mr. Buckles!

There was great piece in today's (1/26/11) Washington Post about home prices in the D.C. region. As tabulated in November, the region's home prices had increased 3.5% in the previous year. Of the other 19 metropolitan areas tracked, only three others were in the black, and they are in CA, which we found interesting since that's been such a hard-hit market, and trends usually start there. The article pointed out that there were gains in the outer suburbs, specifically Prince William County, Frederick County, MD, and Loudoun County. We believe the Charles Town, Ranson, Harpers Ferry, Shepherdstown, and Martinsburg areas will once again be a haven for those seeking a wonderful homes at affordable prices. Check out the article at:
