Summer is officially here and next up on the list of events is the Fourth of July! Lucky for Martinsburg WV area residents, there are plenty of fireworks displays, parades and BBQs to attend and as your local real estate expertsKable Team Realty is happy to share a few with you! Below are several July 4th events taking place in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle this year, so be sure to mark your calendars!

Martinsburg July 4th Fireworks
When: July 4, 2017
Where: Townsend Field, War Memorial Park, Martinsburg WV

Why not spend the day at the park, swimming from 12 PM to 5 PM or playing a round of mini golf from 11 AM to 8 PM, before the big fireworks display at dusk or approximately 9:30 PM! War Memorial Park will be open to the public all day long!

Shepherdstown Picnic and Parade
When: Parade begins at 11 AM, German Street, Downtown Shepherdstown WV
Picnic runs from 12 PM to 3 PM, Morgan's Grove Park 

Admission is free to this family-friendly Fourth of July event! There will be live music, kids activities, and the Rotary Club will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, ice cream and more!

Jefferson County Fireworks
When: 5 PM
Where: Sam Michael's Park, Shenandoah Junction, WV

Free admission, free parking, and food and craft vendors are just some of the features of this Fourth of July event in Jefferson County WV! Gates will open at 5 PM and get there early as there are 10,000 to 12,000 expected to be in attendance!

Summer is officially here in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle and that means endless sunshine, days spent outdoors, and of course, cranking up the A/C when the temperatures start to climb even higher. And while we're all ready for the return of this beautiful season in Jefferson and Berkeley County, what many homeowners are not ready for are the large energy bills. Summer can usher in higher costs in your Eastern Panhandle home and as your local real estate experts, we're sharing four ways you can keep them down this year!

Rotate your ceiling fan
If your ceiling fan is not already circulating in the right direction for summer, it's time to flip the switch. The blades should be turning counterclockwise to keep cool air moving.

Clean your air conditioner
You will likely be using your A/C a lot more during the hot summer months, so take the time to clean it off. Shut off the power to the unit, hose down the coils and clean out the vents to make sure nothing is blocked. If necessary, trim back shrubs around the A/C and clear out any dead leaves.

Replace the filter
To make sure your A/C is running in its best condition, it is recommended that you replace the filter every three months. However, for optimal performance, you can change them as often as every month! This will ensure that your A/C is not being slowed down by inefficiency.

Cool down the lights
Having your lights on all day can really put off more heat than you might imagine. Consider swapping out your heat-producing incandescent lightbulbs with fluorescent bulbs that tend to be cooler and more compact.

In fact, buyer demand is soaring and many of those in the Eastern Panhandle real estate market are first-time buyers!
