Real estate no longer hibernates during the winter and if you're a homebuyer in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle, neither should you! While inventory is still on the lower end, the winter months can still be quite beneficial for those looking to find the best home at the best possible price. But not without the proper research and preparation, of course!

You can count on the Kable Team to help you get the best deal when buying a home during the winter. In fact, with our experience and the following tips, this season can be just as lucrative as spring and summer!

1. Be alert
While the winter months may tend to have fewer buyers than other times of year, that doesn't mean there is zero competition. Jefferson and Berkeley County homebuyers still need to be alert and assertive when entering the real estate market as others will be just as motivated to find a deal. It is wise to remain competitive and to look at properties as often as possible to help you find the right one that much sooner.

2. Be prepared
You've viewed several properties, but one stands out from the rest— what do you do now? Buyers in Martinsburg, Charles Town, Harpers Ferry, Inwood, Hedgesville, Ranson, Shepherdstown and Falling Waters should be prepared to make a move with their pre-approval letter in hand. Buyers can benefit from sellers who've listed their homes now in an attempt to move quickly, but only if they are serious. Having your letter at the ready will show sellers you are committed and possibly give you more leverage in the sale.

3. Let your agent negotiate
You may be house-hunting this winter solely to find a deal on a home in the Eastern Panhandle, but leave the negotiating to your real estate agent! Remember, the agent is experienced in handling a home sale and knows what a great offer looks like. The last thing you want to do is lose the house to another buyer because you aimed too low or went about negotations the wrong way.

It is possible to find your dream home during the winter and Kable Team Realty can help you make it happen! Give us a call today for more information on available properties, today's real estate market or relocating!

We look forward to hearing from you!
