Eastern Panhandle WV Real Estate Blog
Tuesday, 16 February 2016

West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle is a hub of history, excellent shopping for antiques, crafts, fine art and more, as well as entertainment like dining, theater, golf courses and more. Even George Washington spent a great deal of time in what is now known as the Eastern Panhandle! So why not get out and start exploring?

With spring and warmer weather right around the corner, you'll have ample opportunities for taking in all that Jefferson and Berkeley County have to offer. Be sure to add the following places to your agenda, all located right here in Martinsburg, Harpers Ferry, Charles Town and the surrounding communities:

Harpers Ferry National Historic Park
Spend a day or an entire weekend walking the picturesque streets of Harpers Ferry, browsing the museums, hiking the trails or learning on the historic battlefields. Take a tour of Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, watch a living history presentation, take in a workshop or brush up on your history at the Harpers Ferry Historical Assocation.

Charles Town
Go on a walking tour of Charles Town (named after George Washington's brother) past the historic sites like the Jefferson County Courthouse and the Jefferson County Museum with special artifacts from the era.

George Washington Heritage Trail Byway
This trail spans the Eastern Panhandle's three counties and has convenient access points in Charles Town, Falling Watters, Harpers Ferry, Inwood, Shepherdstown and Martinsburg. Along the trail, you will discover the culture of our area's many historic towns, including Washington family homes, sites, rivers and mountain ranges along 136 miles of West Virginia's beautiful Eastern Panhandle.

The Woods in Hedgesville
You can find this popular resort and golf community in nearby Hedgesville, just between Berkeley Springs and Martinsburg. The Woods is home to a fitness center, spa, pool and 36 holes of excellent golf.

WV Route 9 Bike Path
What better way to spend a spring day? This path travels from Martinsburg to the Charles Town/Ranson area and boasts both flat and hilly landscape.
