Harpers Ferry, Charles Town and the surrounding area will host many visitors in 2009 thanks to the John Brown Sesquicentennial making the American Bus Association's Top 100 Events for 2009 list. To learn about the raid and events surrounding its 150th anniversary, go to www.johnbrownraid.org. If you're in the area for this event, or for any reason, we'd be delighted if you stopped by to say hello.
With the national foreclosure rate in 2008 at 1.84%, according to RealtyTrac, we are relieved to see that West Virginia's rate is 0.08%. While that doesn't lessen the pain for those homeowners who are included in that figure, it certainly provides a reassuring snapshot of the state's real estate health. The only state with a lower rate was Vermont. Though the market has been slow overall, for a well-priced foreclosure, it is not uncommon to see multiple offers. Once you see a foreclosure in which you are interested, it's best to make an offer, or you just might have some competition!
We hope 2009 has started on a positive note for you!
