Community Generosity Shines During The Kable Team’s 5th Annual Coat Drive
A coat may seem like a simple item, but when winter arrives in West Virginia, it can mean warmth, comfort, and one less worry for a neighbor facing a difficult season.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, The Kable Team’s 5th Annual Coat Drive collected approximately 240 new and gently used coats this year. The donations were given to Jefferson County Community Ministries and the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission, helping the warmth shared by local donors remain right here in the Eastern Panhandle.
One Coat at a Time, Our Community Responded
Throughout the drive, people arrived with coats for adults and children, sometimes carrying one and sometimes bringing armfuls. Each donation represented a decision to look beyond one household and consider what another person might need as temperatures begin to fall.
A coat that was no longer being worn found a new purpose. A new coat purchased specifically for the drive became a quiet act of kindness for someone the donor may never meet. Together, those individual choices grew into a collection of approximately 240 coats.
That number reflects more than the amount gathered. It represents hundreds of moments when someone in our community chose to help.

Special Thanks to Jefferson Security Bank
A community effort like this is only possible when local organizations are willing to work together. The Kable Team extends a special thank-you to Jefferson Security Bank for partnering with us and helping make the coat drive accessible throughout the Eastern Panhandle.
By providing collection locations at its branches in Charles Town, Shepherdstown, Inwood, and Martinsburg, Jefferson Security Bank made it convenient for people across Jefferson and Berkeley counties to participate. Their continued commitment to the communities they serve played an important role in the success of this year’s drive.
We are also grateful to Locust Hill Golf Course for serving as a collection location and to everyone who helped set up boxes, gather donations, share reminders, and move the coats where they needed to go.
Keeping the Impact Local
The donated coats were delivered to two organizations that serve people in our area: Jefferson County Community Ministries in Charles Town and the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission in Martinsburg.
These organizations work directly with local individuals and families who need support. By placing the coats in their hands, donations collected throughout the drive can reach Eastern Panhandle neighbors as colder weather settles into the region.
For the people receiving them, these coats offer something practical and immediate. They can also provide comfort, dignity, and the reassurance that their community has not forgotten them.

Community Is Part of What Makes a Place Home
Real estate is often described in terms of houses, property values, and neighborhoods. But a home is also connected to the people, businesses, and organizations surrounding it.
The Kable Team is proud to serve the Eastern Panhandle, and that commitment extends beyond helping clients buy and sell real estate. Supporting local organizations and bringing neighbors together around a shared need are important parts of caring for the place we call home.
To every person who donated a coat, shared our posts, told a friend, or encouraged someone else to participate, thank you. Your generosity turned a community coat drive into approximately 240 opportunities to help someone stay warm this winter.
We are grateful to live and work in a community that continues to show up for its neighbors.
